BMW has facelifted the 3 Series with a refreshed design, updated and extended the range of engines and added new innovative model features. This gives both the Coupé and Convertible, with its electrically operated roof, greater appeal and style, says BMW while the Sedan and Touring get new engines and powertrain innovations. New design features at the front, side and rear precisely integrated into the car give even greater emphasis to the sporting and elegant character of the 3 Series Coupé and Convertible and as an additional highlight, they now feature headlights with newly designed contour lines, a modified structure, and innovative light technology. At the same time the modifications in design make the silhouette of both models even sleeker and more dynamic as a sign of superior performance.
As an additional highlight, the BMW 3 Series Coupé and Convertible now feature headlights with newly designed contour lines, a modified structure, and innovative light technology while the Sports Automatic gets F1-style shift paddles. New paintwork colours, an updated range of leather upholstery, as well as innovative office and entertainment functions from BMW ConnectedDrive make a further contribution to the elegant looks of both models and the supreme driving experience they have to offer. The market launch of the new 3 Series Coupé and Convertible also marks the introduction of the new top-of-the-range BMW 335i engine available on all body variants of the BMW 3 Series. These models (Sedan, Coupe and Convertible) now come with a 3.0-litre straight-six featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology, High Precision Injection and VALVETRONIC valve management combining supreme output of 225kW with fuel economy and CO2 management once again enhanced by a significant margin.
Furthermore, the new power unit featured in the BMW 320d (135kW) is likewise available in the Sedan and the Touring and offers a further increase in power and torque combined with an even higher level of all-round efficiency. The 3 Series Sedan Dynamic Edition brings out the characteristic qualities of the 3 Series in terms of driving dynamics more convincingly and impressively than ever before and is available only on BMW 320i, 320d and 335i models and is based on M Sport Model underpinnings. The Dynamic Edition also makes extensive use of BMW Performance Carbon Fibre parts (front splitter, mirror caps and rear spoiler) which perfectly complement the dark chrome 18” alloy wheels, dark chrome tail pipes and Blue Shadow Cloth and alcantara upholstery with Royal Blue stitching. The model is further differentiated from other versions of the 3 Series with special floor mats with Royal Blue piping and “Edition” door entry sill strips.
Furthermore, the 3 Series Sedan Dynamic Edition is only available in Alpine White, Blue Water Metallic and Space Grey Metallic exterior paint colours and will be limited to just 300 units. The wide range of services offered by BMW ConnectedDrive highlights the innovative character of the 3 Series. Appropriately networked to its surroundings, the 3 Series with ConnectedDrive offers both optimum comfort and safety as well as a wide range of useful entertainment functions. In the 2010 model year the range of features provided by BMW ConnectedDrive is being expanded by additional functions – in part totally exclusive to BMW. The focus in particular is on the optimised integration of the mobile telephone and external entertainment devices into the car’s internal iDrive control system.
